The remnants of Order manage to battle Archaon, but are unable to stop the destruction of the world. The last forces of Order teleport to Middenheim, to stop Archaon, Karl Franz manages to find the Hammer of Sigmar in Archaon's plunder, which allows the god Sigmar to fully manifest in Franz' body. Teleported away to Athel Loren, Franz makes common cause with the survivng elves, and even Nagash, and attempt to forge a plan to defeat Archaon and save the world, even though most civilisations are destroyed. He faces Archaon and has the celestial wind ripped from him, but is saved by the intervention of Ungrim Ironfist, and teleported away by a reformed Balthazar Gelt. Although acomplishing some sallies against chaos artillery, when Archaon turns up he decides on one last futile charge with the Bretonnian remnants. With Altdorf in ruins, the remaining Imperial/Bretonnian forces head to the last surviving city of Averheim.Īt Averheim, Karl prepares for a last stand, trying to keep rumours of Middenheim's fall secret, but undestands the prospects of survival are pretty bleak. With the celestial wind becoming embedded in Franz. Simultaneously, in End Times Khaine, Teclis unbinds the Vortex on the Isle of the Dead, releasing the winds of Magic. Franz is too late to take command in a meaningful way, but is able to mount a stand at the Imperial Palace.įranz stands against the Glottkin, but is no match for them and is wounded and mutilated in the duel, at the point of death, he calls to Sigmar causing the Comet of Sigmar to strike Altdorf, wiping out any undead and chaos corruption and mysteriously healing Franz, and imbuing him with godly powers of Sigmar. Franz is found alive and is able to accompany Martek back to the siege of Altdorf. Meanwhile the new Supreme Patriarch, Gregor Martak, has given up on Helborg's command, and steals a griffon to go in search of Franz. Even with undead and Bretonnian aid, Altdorf is breached, sacked and overun by the realm of chaos. Consequently the Glottkin and other Armies of Nurgle are able to destroy much of the Empire.Įventually Nurgles Forces reach Altdorf, where Helborg is forced to do a deal with Vlad Von Carstein to defend the city with undead forces. Helborg lacks all of the diplomacy and tact of Franz, leaving the Empire fractious and unable to mount a united defence of Marienburg, Talabheim, Middenheim or Nuln. Is considered MIA and presumed KIA for a significant time, and so during End Times Glottkin, this leaves Kurt Helborg as de-jure millitary leader and de-facto Emperor. Is then brutally wounded by Walach Harkon, a vampire given over to Khorne, and falls from his Griffon Midflight, is only saved from wounds that should have been Lethal due to the healing energy from the silver Seal. Tries to keep the Empire together in difficult times, but following Gelts use of Necromancy struggles to keep the Church of Sigmar onside, leading to a rout of the Empires northern borders. Valten will go on to defend Middenheim, but ultimately die to a verminlord and lose the Hammer of Sigmar. In End Times Nagash, after witnessing miracles performed by Valten, gives him the Hammer of Sigmar, but retains the secular leadership of the Empire. The End Times is foretold by the appearance of the Twin Tailed Comet of Sigmar.
